Forbes: Elon Musk's wealth increased by over $333 billion in 2025, making the trillion-dollar net worth no longer just a pipe dream
According to Odaily, this year, the combined wealth of more than 3,100 billionaires worldwide increased by $3.6 trillions compared to the beginning of the year, reaching a total of $18.7 trillions. Elon Musk's quest for a trillion-dollar net worth is no longer just theoretical. At the start of the year, his net worth was $421 billions, and by October, he became the first person in history to surpass $500 billions, making him the biggest winner of the year. His net worth increased by more than $333 billions throughout the year, equivalent to a daily increase of $935 millions.
Most global stock markets performed well in 2025, driving the net worth of billionaires higher. The S&P 500 index delivered an annual return of 17%, while the main stock indices in Germany, Japan, and Canada performed even better, with gains of 22%, 26%, and 30% respectively. Of course, compared to others, some billionaires were even more fortunate: the ten biggest winners, already extremely wealthy, saw their net worth surge by more than $729 billions over the past year.
Among the top ten winners, American billionaires took six spots, accounting for over 85% of the total wealth increase among them. This data clearly shows that the new wave of wealth creation is highly concentrated in this country, governed by a billionaire president and cabinet members with considerable fortunes. With a surge in investment in the artificial intelligence sector and the United States striving to lead the AI race, the top five wealth gainers this year are all giants from the American tech industry.
