Vitalik: Despite its flaws, Grok is still a “net positive improvement” over X overall.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin stated that Grok, the AI chatbot under the social platform X, will refute users who try to use it to confirm their own political biases, making the platform closer to the truth.

Vitalik said on Thursday: "Being able to conveniently call Grok on Twitter (the platform's former name) is perhaps the most positive initiative to enhance the platform's truth-seeking attribute since the 'community annotation' feature."

He added: "The key is that users cannot know in advance what kind of response Grok will give. I have seen many similar situations — someone calls Grok expecting it to confirm their absurd political views, but instead, Grok ruthlessly refutes them."

Vitalik said there is ample reason to believe that Grok is a "net improvement" to platform X, but he also admitted that he has concerns about the fine-tuning method of this AI chatbot — Grok's training data will incorporate some specific users' views and opinions, including those of its developer Elon Musk.
