Hackers have infiltrated the systems of a digital and physical marketing vendor, potentially compromising the data of tens of thousands of Americans.

In a new filing with the Office of the Maine Attorney General, CoVantage Credit Union says 160,000 of its customers are affected after bad actors breached the third-party vendor Marquis Software Solutions.

Marquis says that an unauthorized entity gained access to its network over the summer.

“On August 14, 2025, we identified suspicious activity on our network and later determined that it was the result of a cybersecurity incident. Upon learning of the incident, we immediately launched an investigation and engaged the appropriate cybersecurity experts to assist. We also promptly notified law enforcement.

Our investigation determined that an unauthorized third party accessed our network and may have accessed and acquired certain files from our systems. Importantly, your financial institution’s internal systems were not impacted; the incident was limited to Marquis’ environment.”

According to the law firm Levi & Korsinsky, the affected data may include  Social Security numbers, financial account records, dates of birth, addresses and phone numbers.

CoVantage is a Wisconsin-based financial institution that offers various types of lending, as well as digital banking.

Marquis says it’s offering 24 months of complimentary identity protection services to impacted people through Epiq Privacy Solutions ID.

The firm also says that it has taken steps to reduce the risk of another cybersecurity event in the future.
