U.S. Senate confirms Trump-backed nominee Jonathan McKernan as senior Treasury Department official
Jinse Finance reported that the U.S. Senate has approved, by a vote of 51 to 47, Trump nominee Jonathan McKernan as Deputy Secretary for Domestic Finance at the Treasury Department. McKernan previously served at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and has long criticized excessive regulation and the phenomenon of crypto "de-banking." Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent called him an "ideal leader" and stated that McKernan will play a key role in reducing excessive government intervention and revitalizing the U.S. economy. McKernan said he will promote reforms conducive to growth both inside and outside the financial system, with a focus on financial market innovation and crypto integration issues.
