Quick Breakdown
- IoTeX unveils Real-World AI Foundry at Token2049, linking blockchain with AI through verified live data.
- Major Web3 partners including Vodafone, Filecoin, and Theta Network back the initiative to set global standards.
- Real-World Models (RWMs) powered by blockchain aim to deliver secure, adaptable AI for mobility, energy, and healthcare.
IoTeX, a blockchain platform specializing in real-world data, has launched the Real-World AI Foundry, a global initiative designed to create the first open ecosystem of Real-World Models (RWMs). Announced during the R3al World AI Summit at Token2049 Singapore, the Foundry aims to bring crypto infrastructure into the heart of AI development by anchoring machine intelligence in verified, blockchain-secured data.
RWMs differ from conventional AI models trained on static datasets by using live, on-chain verified data from machines, sensors, and individuals. This real-time grounding gives AI the ability to adapt continuously and execute actions responsibly in real-world settings. For the crypto industry, RWMs represent a new use case where decentralized data validation, token incentives, and on-chain governance shape how AI interacts with mobility, robotics, energy, and healthcare.

Global blockchain partners back the foundry
IoTeX’s Foundry is backed by a roster of Alignment Partners drawn from across the Web3 ecosystem. Vodafone Group, Filecoin, Theta Network, Aethir, HashKey Global, Space and Time, Taiko, and Alchemy Pay are among the founding members. Each brings infrastructure critical to scaling RWMs — from decentralized storage and liquidity networks to layer-2 scaling and compliant payment rails.
By uniting blockchain protocols, enterprises, and research institutions, the Foundry sets a path for crypto-powered AI systems that are transparent, interoperable, and compliant with global standards. This collaboration is also positioned to accelerate Web3 adoption by embedding tokenized incentives and on-chain accountability into AI deployment.
A Web3 framework for human-aligned AI
The initiative will operate on three guiding principles: grounded in blockchain-verified data, open-source by design, and human-aligned by governance. According to IoTeX CEO Raullen Chai, Real-World Models mark a transition from predictive AI to actionable, decentralized AI built on trust.
With crypto as the backbone for data verification, liquidity, and governance, the Foundry signals a step toward AI systems that evolve within the transparency and security of blockchain.
Complementing IoTeX’s AI push, Fasset announced IOWN, an Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain focused on unlocking real-world asset ownership. Targeting individuals in emerging markets, IOWN enables access to commodities, real estate, stocks, and bonds through tokenization.
