Trump demands Microsoft fire global affairs head Lisa Monaco

On Friday, former President Donald Trump demanded that Microsoft dismiss Lisa Monaco, who serves as the company’s president of global affairs.

Trump, referencing Monaco’s previous positions as “a top National Security advisor for Barack Hussein Obama, and a Deputy Attorney General focused on Lawfare and Weaponization under Crooked Joe Biden and her so-called boss, Attorney General Merrick Garland,” shared on Truth Social that Monaco’s current position allows her access to “Extremely Sensitive Information,” which he called “intolerable.”

“In my view, Microsoft must immediately end Lisa Monaco’s employment,” Trump stated.

Trump pointed out that Monaco held roles in both the Obama and Biden administrations, including serving as deputy attorney general under Biden. Earlier this year, Trump revoked Monaco’s security clearance, along with those of Biden, Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton, and members of the Biden family.

Microsoft declined to provide a statement. Monaco began working at Microsoft in May, where she is responsible for the company’s cybersecurity strategy and its interactions with governments worldwide.

Laura Loomer, a far-right activist and Trump supporter, has frequently attacked Microsoft’s decision to hire Monaco in posts on X, criticizing Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella for being “born in India” and accusing him of “shameful scammer conduct.” On Friday, Loomer enthusiastically reposted Trump’s statement and again urged the president to “revoke all of Microsoft’s government contracts.”

This is not the first instance of Trump going after a technology executive since his return to office. He previously demanded that Intel President Lip-Bu Tan “step down at once” due to supposed conflicts of interest. Later, after Intel granted the government a 10% stake in return for funding already allocated by the Biden administration, Trump referred to Tan as a “Highly Respected Chief Executive Officer.”
