Sources: Google may face a second fine from the EU in the coming months, according to insiders
Jinse Finance reported that, according to three sources familiar with the matter, Google may face a second fine under the EU's landmark technology regulations in the coming months, with the European Commission currently drafting a decision. As the EU's competition enforcement agency, the European Commission earlier this month imposed a fine of 2.95 billion euros on Google for unfairly favoring its own display advertising technology services and strengthening the core position of its ad trading platform AdX, thereby harming the interests of competitors and online publishers. The imminent second fine is related to allegations made in March, which claim that Google prioritized its vertical search engines, such as Google Shopping, Google Flights, and Google Hotels, over similar features offered by competitors.
