You’ve launched a breakout product—so what comes next? That’s the focus of the session “What Comes After Breakout Success?” with Zoom CEO Eric Yuan and Emergence Capital general partner Santi Subotovsky. The panel will dive into strategies for entering new markets, developing future products, and how top companies avoid being remembered for just one big hit.
Gain valuable perspectives on balancing specialization with expansion, sustaining large-scale innovation, and understanding what investors seek in a company’s follow-up moves. This discussion will take place on the Going Public Stage at TechCrunch Disrupt 2025, set for October 27–29 at Moscone West in San Francisco, where more than 10,000 startup founders and venture capital leaders will help define tech’s next chapter.
Leading through transformation
Eric Yuan founded Zoom in 2011 and steered it from its startup beginnings through its 2019 IPO, revolutionizing global communication and collaboration. Today, he is at the forefront of Zoom’s push toward an AI-driven future, changing how people interact, work, and innovate. His leadership has landed him accolades from Bloomberg 50, Time’s 100 Most Influential People, and UC Today’s UC Leader of the Year. Before starting Zoom, he was Cisco’s VP of engineering, a founding team member at Webex, and holds over 50 patents in real-time communication technology.
Spotting breakout potential before the world catches on
Since coming on board at Emergence Capital in 2010, Santi Subotovsky has been instrumental in some of the firm’s biggest wins, such as Chorus and Openpath. He led Emergence’s early investment in Zoom, back when it was still relatively unknown, and continues to serve on its board as the company now boasts a $24 billion market cap. He’s also on the boards of Crunchbase, Logik.ai, Zipline, Tundra, and Class.
After relocating from Argentina to the United States, Subotovsky co-founded Puente Labs, supporting high-growth entrepreneurs from Latin America as they expanded abroad. He is a Kauffman Fellow, an Endeavor Entrepreneur, a three-time member of the Midas List, and one of just three Latin American investors to receive this honor.
The second act playbook
Achieving breakout success is just the start. Yuan and Subotovsky offer both the operator’s and the investor’s insights into scaling a business after its first major milestone. If your goal is to build a company with lasting impact, this panel will provide the guidance to help you envision what comes next.
