Trump’s Reciprocal Tariff Implementation Delayed by One Week to August 7
According to ChainCatcher, on Thursday evening local time, U.S. President Trump signed an executive order imposing tariffs ranging from 15% to 41% on goods exported to the United States from 67 trading partners, raising tariff levels to their highest point in over a century.
However, the new tariffs will not take effect until August 7, rather than the previously announced August 1, providing another window for countries to attempt to negotiate lower tariffs. A senior government official stated, "This is historic, this is a new trade system, and this is what I call the Trump round of negotiations." White House officials said Thursday night that they hope to reach more agreements with other countries before the new tariffs take effect on August 7.
