Another Information Security Breach Emerges Within the US Government as "AI Rubio" Communicates with Multiple Officials
According to a report by Jinse Finance, citing CCTV News, a new information security breach has recently occurred within the U.S. government. Secretary of State Rubio was impersonated on the instant messaging platform Signal, with his voice being mimicked using artificial intelligence technology, and subsequently contacted several government officials. The U.S. State Department has launched an investigation into the incident. The Washington Post reported on the 9th that an internal government memo revealed that in mid-June this year, someone created a highly deceptive account on the Signal platform, deliberately mimicking Rubio’s email address. Using AI software, the perpetrator replicated Rubio’s voice and began carrying out a scam. Official records show that the fake account contacted at least five “non-State Department personnel,” including a state governor and a member of Congress. During the operation, the impersonator attempted to gain the victims’ trust by leaving voice messages and sending text invitations, with the aim of “obtaining information or accounts.”
