Analysis: Dormant Bitcoin Whale for 14 Years Suspected to Be an Independent Miner from 2011

On July 4, according to exchange executive Conor Grogan, the "Bitcoin whale" who moved 50,000 BTC today after 14 years of dormancy appears to be an independent miner from 2011. This individual once consolidated mining rewards from 180 blocks and, in 2011, held an address containing 200,000 bitcoins—worth approximately $22 billion at today’s prices—making it one of the top five wallets in history.
