NVIDIA plans $500 billion AI factory buildout in US
NVIDIA has announced a groundbreaking initiative to manufacture its AI supercomputers entirely within the United States.
This move marks a significant milestone in reshoring advanced technology production and aims to strengthen supply chain resilience amid growing global demand for AI infrastructure.
The plan includes developing over 1 million square feet of factory space across Arizona and Texas.
Production of NVIDIA’s next-generation Blackwell chips is already underway at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) facilities in Phoenix, while assembly operations are being set up with Foxconn in Houston and Wistron in Dallas.
Packaging and testing will be handled by Amkor Technology and Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL), both located in Arizona.
“The engines of the world’s AI infrastructure are being built in the United States for the first time. Adding American manufacturing helps us better meet the incredible and growing demand for AI chips and supercomputers, strengthens our supply chain, and boosts our resiliency,” emphasised NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang, highlighting the importance of the initiative.
NVIDIA expects these factories to ramp up production within 12 to 15 months, with plans to generate up to $500 billion worth of AI infrastructure domestically over the next four years.
The facilities will incorporate NVIDIA’s own technologies, including digital twins created with its Omniverse platform and AI-powered robots deployed through its Isaac GR00T system.
These "gigawatt AI factories" are designed to process massive artificial intelligence workloads, forming the backbone of the expanding AI sector.
The initiative is projected to create hundreds of thousands of jobs and contribute significantly to U.S. economic security.
