Ripple donates $100k in XRP for California wildfire relief
Ripple has pledged $100,000 in XRP to aid recovery efforts for communities affected by the ongoing California wildfires.
The donation will benefit nonprofit organizations World Central Kitchen and GiveDirectly, focusing on both immediate relief and long-term rebuilding support.
The contribution, facilitated through the crypto philanthropy platform The Giving Block, is set to double in impact thanks to a matching pledge from entrepreneur Jared Isaacman.
Ripple ( XRP ) emphasized its commitment to supporting disaster relief through cryptocurrency donations, highlighting the growing role of blockchain in charitable giving.
California wildfires
California is grappling with severe wildfires this season, particularly in Southern California, where fires have spread rapidly across the Los Angeles area since Jan. 7, according to the New York Times.
The combination of hurricane-force Santa Ana winds, low humidity, and prolonged drought conditions has worsened the situation, displacing thousands of residents and causing significant property damage.
World Central Kitchen, known for providing meals to disaster-stricken areas, and GiveDirectly, which delivers direct cash assistance to affected communities, will be key recipients of Ripple’s donation.
