Russia's Sberbank calls for delay in issuing digital ruble
Russia previously announced that the issuance date of the digital ruble is set for July 1, 2025, but a representative from Sberbank, the Federal Savings Bank of Russia, called for a delay in the issuance of the digital ruble because the relevant central bank digital currency (CBDC) platform is still under development. It is reported that Sberbank's market share of deposits accounts for about 45% of the entire Russian market, and if the bank is not prepared, it may affect the issuance of the digital ruble.
