TON blockchain taps Axelar for interoperability push
Quick Take The TON Foundation will leverage Axelar’s Mobius development stack as its preferred interoperability solution to improve connectivity with other blockchains. Axelar’s MDS will support the development of cross-chain decentralized applications within the TON ecosystem.

The TON +1.04% Foundation has selected Axelar AXL -1.01% ’s Mobius development stack as its preferred interoperability solution — aiming to boost The Open Network's connectivity with other chains.
TON developers plan to deploy MDS to enable asset transfers between TON and other blockchains and to support the development of cross-chain decentralized apps.
The integration also aims to prevent fragmented liquidity, ensure that assets are not isolated on different chains, and reduce user confusion by providing a unified cross-chain experience. Solutions like Axelar's Interchain Token Service will support this unified experience.
“Axelar MDS is an ideal choice for a TON interoperability layer,” said Anthony Tsivarev, director of ecosystem development at the TON Foundation. “It’s an open, developer-friendly stack that enables secure, one-click integration for building apps across networks.”
Axelar is an interoperability platform that connects multiple blockchains, including Ethereum, Cosmos, and Polkadot. Its MDS stack provides the tools and infrastructure to facilitate secure interoperability across chains.
TON developers want to leverage Telegram’s nearly 900 million active users and mini-apps to allow users to interact with various services without leaving the application. In recent months, Telegram-based games like Hamster Kombat and Notcoin have attracted millions of users with the promise to earn crypto tokens issued on TON.
However, the TON ecosystem has lacked user-friendly interoperability protocols so far, which hindered seamless asset transfers across different networks. The core developers want to address this issue with Axelar.
