Russia will start taxing with digital ruble from 2025
Russian tax authorities will start levying taxes in digital rubles from 2025, and banks are also empowered to prevent "suspicious" CBDC transactions. The Russian Ministry of Finance hopes to "start paying pensions and other social benefits with digital rubles" as part of an expanded pilot program, with government agencies committing to more actively adopt digital rubles by 2024.
