Japan intends to reach tariff agreement with U.S. before June G7 summit
Japanese Minister of Economic Revitalization, Taro Aso, stated that his goal is to timely resolve the tariff negotiation issue before the meeting between US President Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shizo Abe in June.
Taro Aso met with US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer in Washington on Friday and told reporters, "Both leaders are looking forward to their meeting, which has been confirmed." "We will keep this in mind and make every effort." Prior to making the above remarks, Trump and Shizo Abe had a phone call and pledged to meet during the G7 summit next month. Hours later, Trump stated that he agreed to establish a partnership with Nippon Steel and American Steel (X.N).
