Solana Whales Take Profits After Million-Dollar Staking Unlock

A significant event involving the network Solana (SOL), has captured the attention of the cryptocurrency community: Four wallet addresses, belonging to whales, have unlocked a significant amount of SOL tokens that had been staked for approximately four years.

Data from Arkham Intelligence reveals that these four addresses staked a total of 1,79 million Solana tokens in April 2021. At the time, the total value of the assets was estimated at $37,7 million. The unlock, considered by analysts to be the largest unlock of staked SOL in a single day, represents a major milestone, with the next similar event expected to happen in approximately three years, in 2028.

At the time of the token release, the market value of the unlocked amount jumped to around $206 million, representing a remarkable 446% gain for these investors over the staking period. Anticipation surrounding this unlock was high, and the market was closely watching the potential consequences for Solana’s price.

As expected, after the tokens were released, whales started taking profits. Blockchain analytics firm Lookonchain highlighted recent transactions, reporting that one of the wallet addresses dumped nearly 260.000 SOL tokens, worth over $30 million. The other three wallets also made significant sales, totaling approximately $16 million worth of Solana.

At the time of publication, the price of Solana was listed at US$117,51, up 4% in the last 24 hours.
