Fed minutes: if inflation remains high, the Fed may pause easing policy
Fed minutes show that some participants said that if inflation remains high, the Federal Reserve may pause the easing policy and keep the policy rate at a restrictive level. If the labour market is weak or economic activity stumbles, easing may accelerate. Many participants at the Fed's 6-7 November meeting said that uncertainty about the level of the neutral interest rate made a gradual reduction in policy restrictiveness appropriate.
