Bitcoin Community Members Warn: Rush to Restart OP_CAT May Face Security Risks
Various members of the Bitcoin community, including Luke Dash, CTO of Ocean Mining, and “Brian_Trollz,” editor of Bitcoin Magazine, have argued that the recent hotly debated reintroduction of Operation Concatenate (OP_CAT) could pose a significant security risk. Originally introduced by Satoshi Nakamoto to allow the merging of two data sets into a single transaction script, OP_CAT was disabled in 2010 due to security risks. While the reintroduction of OP_CAT could facilitate the success of asset tokenization, especially based on Ordinals, there is an urgent need to implement potentially compromised Bitcoin security.
