PANews, December 27—According to Russian media outlet Bits.media, a former traffic police officer in Russia has been tried and sentenced to seven years in prison for confiscating a detainee's phone in 2022 and transferring bitcoin worth 20 million rubles to his own account. The officer not only stole the bitcoin but also used violence to extract a confession from the detainee. He will serve seven years in a general prison and must pay 20 million rubles in compensation to the victim. In addition, he will be stripped of his police rank.
